APC and PDP clash before LG polls in Niger State killing Five

As residents in various towns in Niger State prepare to cast their votes for the aspirants for local government political positions, there has been some sad news as at least five persons have reportedly been killed in a clash between supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State.

According to reports, the incident, which occurred at about 7pm on Friday in Bida Local Government Area of the state, stemmed from an accident involving an APC vehicle, which rammed into a crowd of PDP supporters.

The situation degenerated into a free for all, leading to attacks on members of both parties.

Aggrieved members of the PDP burnt brooms and threw them at APC supporters.

The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Bida.

Confirming the incident, police spokesman in the state, Bala Elkana, told the theeagleonline it was a case of an accident that turned sour.

Elkana said the crisis happened after both parties held their campaigns in the ancient city.
