NYSC announce plans to have four batches of Corp members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has said it has started working on plans to conduct orientation course on quarterly basis from 2017 to meet up with challenges on increasing corps population.
In a statement made available to Daily Trust, Director-General Brigadier General Johnson Olawumi revealed the plan at the opening ceremony of the 2016 Annual Management Conference (AMC) of the scheme in Asaba, Delta State.

He said that the scheme now mobilizes about 260,000 corps members annually and it foresees that the population will rise to 350,000 in no distant time.
Based on the proposed plan, Olawumi said the scheme would forward detailed proposal and cost requirement of the planned quarterly orientation to the federal government for consideration.
On his part, Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government Festus Agas said the scheme had added value to Delta State communities in the areas of education, agriculture, infrastructure, technology, youth empowerment and social services.
