Meek Mill sentenced to 6-12 Months House Arrest

Meek Mill has been sentenced to six to 12 months under house arrest by a Philadelphia judge on Friday for violating his probation stemming from a 2009 drug and gun conviction.

As Gossip Cop reported, the rapper was found in violation of his probation last December because, one month prior, he flew to Los Angeles without permission to attend the American Music Awards. The rapper failed to obtain a travel voucher from the court before leaving Philadelphia, which he was required to do as part of the terms of his probation.

Mill was accompanied in court on Friday by girlfriend Nicki Minaj, who gave testimony on her boyfriend’s behalf. The judge decided that Mill would not serve any jail time for his transgression, but he won’t be able to perform in concert or work on his music, and instead has to do community service.

Mill must serve a minimum of 90 days under house arrest, after which time a judge will reexamine the case and decide how much longer the rapper’s sentence will be. Mill is obligated to turn himself in by March 1, at which time he’ll be fitted with an ankle monitoring bracelet.

As Gossip Cop has noted, Mill spent five months in prison last year for violating the terms of his probation when he failed to get permission before booking out-of-town concerts and tweeted defamatory comments about his probation officer.
