University in Niger announce scholarship for 18 Students

Vice Chancellor of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU) Lapai, Prof. Mohammed Nasir Maiturare, has announced scholarship for 18 best students for the 2014/2015 academic session of the university.
This is coming on the heels of the disclosure by the vice chancellor that the university could not admit more than 30 per cent of those who applied for admission in the 2015/2016 session lamenting the low admission quota to the institution.
Prof Maiturare while speaking during the matriculation ceremony of 2,956 new students for the 2015/2016 academic session, stated that the university is being positioned to assume new height and the students are key to achieving it.
The vice chancellor stated that 18 students were awarded the scholarship of the school for having the best Cumulative Grade for the 2014/2015 academic session , adding that the scholarship covered the tuition and accommodation of the beneficiary students who maintained a cumulative grade of four points and above and the best in the university’s various programmes.
He explained that the beneficiaries will be based on performance of the students and that any student that drops from the present position of best grade will not benefit by next session and that the students were both from 200 and 300 levels of the university.
Meanwhile the vice chancellor has stated that out of the 8,186 students that applied for admission only 3,078 were offered admission representing 30 per cent of those that applied for admission.
He stated that the number of students who are applying for the university’s programmes have been on the increase.
