Nicki Minaj Gets Autograph From President Obama

Nicki Minaj is showing off an autograph she received from President Obama on Friday after she and a slew of other stars met with him to discuss the criminal justice reform initiative “My Brother’s Keeper.”

Minja, along with Alicia Keys, Busta Rhymes, Common, Janelle Monae and more celebrities, spoke with Obama about keeping minority youth on the right track and out of jail. Afterward, the rapper shared an autographed photo the President gave her on Instagram and Twitter. Obama had signed an official portrait of himself, with his inscription reading, “Nicki, Proud of you… keep it up!”

Along with flaunting the photo, Minaj wrote on social media, “Met with President Obama today to discuss a few things that happen to be very dear to my [heart]. I am #MyBrothersKeeper.” She added in a separate tweet, “Lol I know you’re gagging. I’m so honored. Can’t believe I came face to face w/greatness. So proud of him.”

In February 2014, Obama spoke about the importance of the “My Brother’s Keeper” program. “That’s what ‘My Brother’s Keeper’ is all about: Helping more of our young people stay on track, providing the support they need to think more broadly about their future, building on what works — when it works, in those critical life-changing moments,” he explained.

The initiative works with a variety of businesses, foundations and community groups to develop programs that support keeping young people out the criminal justice system and on a path to success. Through investments and donations, the program has raised $500 million in grants and $1 billion in financing. Other celebs at Friday’s meeting included Ludcaris, J.Cole, Wale, DJ Khaled, and Chance the Rapper.
