CAF sanction NFF for Stadium overcrowding

Africa's ruling football body, CAF, on Monday, May 9th 2016 fined the Nigerian Football Federation $5,000 for allowing its stadium to be overcrowded during their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt in Kaduna in March while citing the safety of officials and players as another reason for such fine.

The Kaduna State government had thrown open the doors of the venue for free to allow fans to watch the crucial AFCON qualifier which ended 1-1

It is speculated that More than 40,000 spectators were accomodated in the 15,000 capacity stadium in Kaduna.
