Hon. Bawa signs peace accord, delighted that it will checkmate violence

In preparation for the 2019 general elections, political parties in Niger State on Friday signed a peace accord in Minna, the state capital.

Speaking shortly after signing the peace accord, the Niger state Gubernatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Hon. Joshua Bawa said the peace accord, signed by chairmen of political parties and their governorship candidates, was timely and indeed meant to ensure that the forthcoming elections were conducted peacefully.

Hon. Bawa pointed out that a peaceful, free and fair elections is what everyone seeks, noting that violence digresses the democratic aims of a country or state.

He therefore, called on all political parties to warn their supporters against violence in the forthcoming elections as serious measures have been put in place by authorities to ensure that perpetrators are brought to book.

Hon. Bawa further implored the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, to increase the voters electoral education and find a way out to curb vote buying in the state and country at large.

The politician thanked the INEC for their laudable efforts so far in ensuring that there's a peaceful, free and fair elections in 2019.
